Key human defenses against pathogens were forged billions of years ago in microbial battles with viruses. Learn more this week in Science: https://scim.ag/3RTyCap
With Eugene Koonin, we wrote a rather comprehensive review on the origin, evolution and organization of the #virosphere. We describe all 10 viral realms and the logic behind them, and so much more. Check it out! comptes-rendus.academie-sciences.fr/biologies/ar...
An Indiana University biology professor has been kicked out of his university lab after speaking up in defense of international postdocs who were targeted for deportation. www.science.org/content/arti...
We are all Roger. This is a despicable attack on the very essence of what academic science is about. Reason. Humanity. International collaboration.
'Scientific advancement depends on freedom, openness, and truth - the very values fascism eventually destroys. Our collective response will shape the future.'
this is not my ideal way of seeing my lab published in Science magazine, but, here we are. Roger is well known as a devoted life-long plant scientist, but he is also an incredible human being who shows constant kindness and encouragement to everyone around him. this is simply not fair.
Final version of our NRG1 MS is out! We uncover a surprising mechanism: the helper NLR NRG1 targets organellar membranes to trigger immunity Great collaborations with @KamounLab, @JiorgosKourelis, @jonathandgjones, @AdamWu9527, and the @Phil_Carella labs! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
🚨Job alert: We are looking for a #phd student to join us @unil.bsky.social to study the evolution & function of gene regulatory sequences in the context of crop domestication using genomics, genome editing and imaging 🌱🍅🧬. #plantscience #scijobs #plantscijobs. Apply here: tinyurl.com/3u73csma
