With the newly released AI warning for Steam v1.1.0 you can turn the AI disclosure on Steam store pages into an unmissable popup and blur or hide games with an AI disclosure in the search results!

Someone actually crunched the numbers, and using GenAI can decrease reviews for indie game on Steam (a useful proxy stat for sales) by as much as *58%* 🤖
I forgot to take a screenshot but I came across a line that was something like "if you keep sulking, moss is gonna start growing on you," which is both immediately recognizable to anyone that speaks JP and basically a non sequitur to anyone who doesn't.
I've been wanting to write a TL thread for v1 of Battan's Secondhand Sisters for a bit now, so just gonna jump into it!
Translators! Please, *please* get yourselves a website that lists your publications, credits, qualifications, etc. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just a place where people can see what your deal is. I can’t hire you based on your Bluesky profile.
NEW Japanese to English translation competition!!!
This is aimed at emerging literary translators who have never published a novel before. You must translate one of the short stories from 「#真相をお話しします」by the end of October.

This is kind of a big deal. There hasn't been a new translation competition in years and years and years. Only the JLPP and JAT contests are really viable for people who don't already have a whole book ready for translation and publication.
The winners may also be asked to work on more novels and will be expected to be free over the next three years to work on literary translation. So really great opportunity for those trying to get their foot in the door!
The website specifically states:
"We are looking for translations written in the applicant’s own words."
So no machine or slop translation!
For our general submissions call, Two Lines Press is looking for translations of full-length prose works, from any non-English language into English. At this time, we're only considering pitches for novels, novellas, story collections, and literary non-fiction. www.twolinespress.com/submissions#...
