Forces of Geek 2026 Father's Day Gift Guide - Forces of Geek
He has a whole routine about how he felt bad for mocking a supermodel’s stories about the menu at a fancy new restaurant, but when the audience doesn’t deliver the prompts he wants, he turns on them – like Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris blaming voters for their electoral loss.
The last two stand-up comedy shows I saw entailed a fair bit of audience-blaming when jokes didn’t land. Maybe write better material? Maybe update the jokes in a years-old act to keep it fresh? Yes, I know it’s ‘deconstructionist’ comedy, but if it’s not funny, it’s not comedy.
Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf (currently touring) rages against the success of comics like Chappelle, Carr, Gervais et al. who can make millions from their specials by doing anti-trans/anti-disability material while “I can’t get on TV” leaves a bad taste – a bit like sour grapes.
