My #Robin friend Henry today. His last nest failed, but his mate Celandine is having one final attempt at nesting - she is sitting on eggs while Henry brings her food.

More orchids from Berrow, Somerset. Thousands of Southern Marsh Orchid, with the occasional Bee, and a patch of Marsh Helleborines just about to flower. Hoping that I'll see them in flower at another site in a few days.

Pyramidal Orchid (Anacamptis pyramidalis), flowering at Odd Down, Bath. Probably the most common orchid species in the Bath area, it often grows on bare ground and road verges, as well as grasslands.

Adonis Blue (Polyommatus bellargus), an uncommon butterfly, at Morgan's Hill, Wiltshire. The larvae feed on Horseshoe Vetch. They produce a sugary substance that ants feed on, and the ants protect the larvae in return.

Lizard Orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum) at Berrow, Somerset. This species is on the edge of its range in Britain, but appears to be expanding its range, potentially in response to climate change.

Bee Orchid (Ophrys apifera) at Odd Down, Bath. These orchids can take several years to develop, and may only flower once in their lifetime. I sometimes find them in abundance, only for them to be completely absent the following year

A very worn Wall #butterfly (Lasiommata megera), at Morgan's Hill, Wiltshire. This species has dramatically declined at inland sites, probably due to climate change causing them to have a third 'doomed generation' in the autumn
