That is what I have been saying since last year. He and his sponsors were/are buying the election and Mills, an actual Mainer not an international merchant with generational wealth connections, could not compete with that kind of money.

Platner’s campaign spent over $14 million to win 160,000 votes in a primary. That’s about $88 per vote. Flooding the zone with national donors is not “money out of politics” … it’s buying an election.

The discourse is broken
Platner’s campaign was far from the “grassroots” narrative and is actually a case of political consultants executing a plan to flood a *small state primary* with enough national cash to overwhelm the field. And it worked. They bought the primary and cleared the field of viable opposition.
