Tired of the "anti AI=head in sand" straw man.
It's increasingly obvious to everyone without a personal stake in genAI (the vast majority) that in practice it is unprofitable, time-wasting, unethical, etc. The only thing keeping it alive: its investors' almost endless funds.
"Almost" is key here.
Voiceover has the ability to be accessible and we are not there yet.
We need able bodied peers to stand with us, to be loud with us, to shout with us, and to care about us.
I truly believe this industry CAN be accessible, but there’s a lot of work to be done.

SUPER simply, the most important things you can do to improve your home setup:
1. padding the heck out of your space with thick foam, moving blankets, or blankets/clothes; limiting ambient noise
2. having a decent mic, interface, DAW, etc, knowing how to use them
3. good & stable internet connection
It always breaks my heart to get sides that say "open LA local and remote talent" but the final cast list ends up being LA local only. That's the sign of a casting director trying to help and bean counters stepping in with a denial. It's not the CDs or fellow actors who gatekeep. It's the studios.
Also, if you're a StudioBricks owner:
SB corners are more reflective than really makes any sense given their foaminess. (Yes, there's an "I think they're a SB owner" corner-bounce sound. 🤣)
Please add a little more treatment to them, if you can! Bass traps are best, but even just extra foam helps.

Not crunching your engineers so they can make people's environments sound seamless might (depending on how actors' setups are configured) take more time/money than mandating everyone use the same space, so clients often just…won't even try.
Because that lets them save a buck + time on the back-end.
