He joined the Continental Army because they promised he’d be freed if they won. And the rest, as they say, is history. In later life he married and had a daughter, Lois Bilby, who married Stephen Johnston and later became my sixth-great grandmother.
Just wrote and sent the most fraught email of my professional writing career. It’s not a career-breaking thing or anything. Just made me nervous. I’m always nervous when asking for things, and this is a big one. We’ll see what the publisher says.
Then I picked up my "Science Fantasy" novel, which is a science fiction story in Fantasy robes, in the Vancian "Dying Earth" mold. I'd reached 28,000 words on this story, but when my publisher didn't want it, I abandoned it. So I opened the file to see if there was anything I could salvage.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's more to do with the fact my last book didn't perform very well than the quality. Which is normal; it was book 3 of a trilogy. But it could have been several other things I've thought of. Bottom line: Who cares?
So I'm back to working on the science fantasy.
