Communities shouldn’t have to live in fear of violence because of events that have nothing to do with them. We’re thinking today of those in Belfast who don’t feel safe to go outside right now, who are worried their house might be the target of the next arson attack, who are facing racist abuse.
We can’t allow horrific and tragic incidents to continue to be used as an excuse by the far right and bad actors to cause violence and destruction in our cities, we’ve seen it in Dublin, we’ve seen it in Liverpool, and we’ve seen it across the past three years in Belfast.
Funny how much can change in just one month? The Socdems have completely changed their tune on the Critical Infrastructure Bill and the damaging impact it will have on our climate. Here are some of them speaking out against this bill last month, before voting it through yesterday.

This bill will allow Jack Chambers to bypass the Climate Act whenever he wants, and shows a serious lack of support to our climate and our environment.
We echo the calls by Green Party NI and Mal O’Hara that this must be the last summer of racist pogroms in Belfast. #Ireland #Belfast #Southport #Dublin #DublinRiots
