In Imperial #Rome the #ornatrix was a sought after figure. But who were they? The ornatrix was a female slave whose daily task was to take care of creating elaborate hairstyles by literally sewing the hair in shape. They also were in charge of arranging clothing, make up, jewellery & perfumes.

On this day, 10th June, in the year 38 CE, Julia Drusilla, member of the Roman Imperial family, died at the age of 21 from an illness which had taken over Rome. Her brother was Caligula. After her death, Caligua had her deified with the name Diva Drusilla Panthea.

At the circular Temple of Vesta in the Forum, the Vestal Virgins tended the eternal flame, believed to protect Rome itself.
