Today's note of praise is for @raggedmouths.bsky.social 's wonderful book HOW TO TALK TO A CAT, which I read today - it's an insanely smart book about philosophy, language, being, and the expansiveness and limitations of dialogue while being fully, empathetically, human in its understanding.
My opinion in philosophy of mind re consciousness remains: whatever's the least satisfying thing to learn existentially, whatever just gives us no reason for hope or joy or an experience of the universe as anything other than deceptive, will turn out to be true. I'm just not sure which view that is.
With all respect to Carl, the solution is to simply write books no one would want to read. I know full well every request I get is a scam.
There may be worse and better ways of keeping kids off of social media, but it needs to happen. If that ruins social media for the rest of us, so be it.
