This is about delivering what residents asked for in our 2021 resident survey.
Thanks to the residents who have stuck with us, particularly Ann Bayross and Wendy Pole.
We finally have a practical path forward to unlock the site.
The reality is that designs—however good—can only get the green light if there is a solid financial plan behind them.
We are working constructively with the landowners (ABC) to unlock the budget and deliver a facility that is sustainable for the long term, mirroring the success of Repton/Singleton.
🚧 Update: Bockhanger & Bybrook Community Centre
Yesterday, Cllr Alan Dean and I held a crucial on-site meeting with Ashford Borough Council Director Maria Stevens.
Since the Council controls the site, their backing is the only way to turn proposals into reality. Finally, things are looking up. 🧵
Great to attend this morning's HS1 Sub-Committee on Growth, chaired by @sojanjosephmp.bsky.social to restore international rail to Kent.
Pleased to participate in the discussions with ORR, joining a united group of MPs, council leaders, council officers, special adviser Vince Lucas, and HS1 reps.
