60 butterflies. One favourite. The nation has spoken... Britain's Favourite Butterfly is the mighty Peacock! 👑🦋 #BritainsFavouriteButterfly
An unexpected duo of Small Marbled (2nd/3rd records) & a very tatty Ni Moth were amongst the 77/43 in the 2 Upton garden traps this morning, plus the gorgeous Triaxomera parisitella, with Rush Veneer & Diamondback the only other migrants #TeamMoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social @dorsetmoths.bsky.social

Blowing a gale, drizzle & humid at my Dorset patch this pm, I was surprised to see my first Marbled White & Small Skipper, also a mint Comma (MW & SS too brief to photo, so my photos from 2025) @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social
Anyone for ice-cream?? This Green Pug was really giving mint choc-chip vibes!! Also in the moth trap y'day some gorgeous Dark Arches & a lovely Minor (agg sp*). In total 20 sp/50 moths, with Heart & Dart most prevalent (Weymouth). @dorsetmoths.bsky.social @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social #teammoth

A glorious day for a butterfly transect. The meadows in Lyscombe bottom looking incredible. Meadow browns, small heaths and marbled whites most numerous. Common blues, large + small skippers, small copper and small tortoiseshell seen also. @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social

Wow, 446 Silver-studded Blues recorded of the Ferry Road transect at Studland NNR. Numbers still building but will they reach last year’s record?

Well well. A Large Copper has been seen in Dorchester. Let us know if you know about its origin. It’s been extinct in Uk for a long time!
