This resource encompasses 644 gut bacteriome profiles from 212 wild and zoo-housed bonobos with associated data on 104 host and exposome factors. Leveraging this resource, Torfs et al. reveal key influential factors of the bonobo gut bacteriome, such as lifestyle, diet, maternal kinship, and a strong effect of social contact.
