I am not at all seeking to minimize the seriousness of malaria, dengue, yellow fever, etc. but if we are going to count infections in the death toll for non-human animals, shouldn't we also count them for humans? Especially since we can take steps to reduce the germs we spread (unlike mosquitoes)

I have to say it does seem like it used to be a bit easier to get published in Nature 🧪 This study has an N of 1, that 1 subject is also the author, AND he remains anonymous - "for reasons which may be self-evident." Amazing.
