"generally dont like" isnt the correct phrasing, moreso that they dont initially care for it any more than they do other projects. some artists take this in stride, others dont, both happen for wild reasons.
my point is that homestuck wasnt meant to be a magnum opus and the fact that it is considered as such has had wild implications for the comic itself and the artists behind it. it started out as just another silly thing, same as problem sleuth. this just *happens* sometimes.
theres no definitive final project thats going to properly capstone everything ever unless you just completely luck out. and you cant bank on luck. you have to just do things. you have to actually work on the things you care about.
missing 100% of the shots you dont take etc. idk.
its the same problem of "magnum opus" kinda stuff where people have these grand ideas that they want to be known for, and on a lot of levels i really get that, but i feel like a lot of artists generally dont like their magnum opus works because it was just another project
Let's do something about that pathetic magick of yours,,,!

i think a very unhealthy mix of mentalities, largely stemming from news sources propping up child prodigies, has negatively affected peoples perception of skill and talent and whether theyre "late to the party" as it were
you just gotta start, man

I saw a viral post like "if you haven't studied 3D all day all night since you were 14 then you're toast", meaning it completely sincerely. Lots of industry folks agreeing with them.
I can only say that's not been my experience at all and it sucks to see talented people trying to kick the ladder.
