We are scientists who agree with Extinction Rebellion that it is time to take direct action to confront catastrophic climate and ecological breakdown. We are predominantly UK-based. https://www.scientistsforxr.earth/

This case highlights the extreme inequality of the law and its enforcement. "Property" rights - in a lobster - pursued all the way to a police raid & strip searches. But we can do whatever the hell we want to marine wildlife. Take one step back and it all looks mad. theecologist.org/2026/apr/28/...
THREAD: The IEA global energy review 2026 * CO2 record high, but growth nearly ground to halt * Clean energy shaved 3bn tonnes off CO2 * Fossil-fuel power pushed into reverse * Age of Electricity "confirmed" * "Extraordinary" solar growth * Batteries up 40% * EVs up 20% 1/10

The BBC News homepage has now COMPLETELY removed its Climate section?! It has now been relegated to a sub-menu via the "More" button in the right-hand corner.
1/7 The IPCC just flew 200+ Working Group II authors to Nassau, Bahamas for a 5-day meeting to advance the AR7 climate impacts report. Let's do the science on what one week of this costs the #climate 🧵
"Everyone who comes to #climate & nature activism will have their foundational stories, & we both believe that sharing & honouring these, as @scientistsforxr.earth have done in their book Scientists on Survival, is a critical part of inspiring ourselves & others to persist with demanding change"💚 🙏

1/ There's a system of ocean currents in the Atlantic that shapes Europe's #climate, drives monsoons, and keeps sea levels stable along the US coast. In the last 5 years, the scientific evidence that it could collapse has shifted dramatically. Most people have no idea. 🧵
It is done! PhD thesis (#2) submitted after a long and intense journey. Grateful to everyone who helped me get here. Especially Prof. Rob Evans & @drjamielewis.bsky.social 🙏 Viva hopefully in September.

I see @nilspratley.bsky.social is still peddling nonsense! I hope @katharineviner.bsky.social examines this given the @theguardian.com's #Climate pledge Its incoherent for their finance editorials to take this line, it undermines the excellent climate reporting by @dpcarrington.bsky.social & team

What's it like to know the #climate crisis better than anyone? I interviewed climate scientists about the weight of knowing, and how they navigate the gap between understanding and action. 🎥 New talk presented at @gsiexeter.bsky.social last week. Kindly hosted by @jamesgdyke.info.

1/ Why is atmospheric CO₂ accelerating faster than fossil fuel emissions are growing? The answer is buried in the data, and it's more worrying than most people realise. A thread. 🧵👇

The UK needs more North Sea gas; imports from the US are the real enemy | Nils Pratley
Wow?! BBC News homepage has just significantly downgraded the placing of its "Climate" section on its menu bar Climate is now ranked last, lower than Tech. Earlier this month "Climate" was ranked above World, UK, US&Canada, Business and Tech

This week, more than 200 authors are gathered in Nassau, The Bahamas, to advance work on the Working Group II contributions to IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report. Over the next five days, they will participate in trainings, workshops and chapter discussions. Read more: bit.ly/WGIILAMII
So 10yrs after @arusbridger.bsky.social launched the #KeepItInTheGround campaign & 6yrs after @katharineviner.bsky.social's #climate pledge The @theguardian.com finance editor @nilspratley.bsky.social is still writing apologetics for the fossil fuel industry!!! Here's a short 🧵on how dumb this is!
