The thing is that I am open to left-wing critiques of American foreign policy, and how often foreign aid can turn into golden handcuffs. The thing is that when we are talking about food or medical aid it is better to have aid with conditions than no aid at all.
In 2028 there will be another chance to do the right thing and elect the party that believe that crimes are the fault of the perpetrator and not the victim. I am certain there will be a very important reason to not do this that year as well.
It is also telling how these critiques always gloss over, say, Chinese foreign aid, which can and often does function in the same way but which these same outlets treat as saintly altruism.
To all people screaming about how someone should stop Musk- The option to stop him was to not reward his ideological fellow travelers control of the government. I was told it was actually very important to reward them in order to punish the Democratic party for their failures.
