Last week we presented the results of project at the 3rd From Forest to Heritage conference in Klagenfurt, Austria. www.from-forest-to-heritage.dendro.at Got some positive feedback, now we're busy turning the presentations into papers!
It was a pleasure to contribute a chapter, "Caring for Chimps as Viral Kin," on the complex relations of care and unequal relations of exchange that developed at Vilab II in Liberia, for this great volume! Open access is available @ www.jstor.org/content/oa_b... #envhist #medhist
Organized by @viktorpal.bsky.social, Ostrava held the largest international #envhist conference in Czechia since @eseh.bsky.social 2003 in Prague: ff.osu.eu/esiee/. We put together a whole session on crisis discourses, local conflict and forest ecosystem change.

Look, I get it, this *sounds* great for defence, security and the environment. But this erases risks entailed in integrating environment & defence. Eg it’s not just re wetting bogs, these schemes also come with military infrastructure that blocks wildlife migration & damages ecosystems
