Organized by @viktorpal.bsky.social, Ostrava held the largest international #envhist conference in Czechia since @eseh.bsky.social 2003 in Prague: ff.osu.eu/esiee/. We put together a whole session on crisis discourses, local conflict and forest ecosystem change.
Look, I get it, this *sounds* great for defence, security and the environment. But this erases risks entailed in integrating environment & defence. Eg it’s not just re wetting bogs, these schemes also come with military infrastructure that blocks wildlife migration & damages ecosystems
With the reintroduction of screwworm, a deadly cattle parasite once eradicated, to the US due to cut government funding, it seems a good time to reshare my recent article, "Veterinarians, Vaccines, and Hybrids: Veterinary Science in the Mongolian People’s Republic." Link below.
