Fun fact: When she won the US House of Reps the first time, it was before US Constitution’s 19th Amendment, the Women’s Right to Vote, was made official! During her separate terms, she helped pass this Amendment.
She is also part of #ASpecialSisterhood of women leaders who never had children : )

American politician & #womensrights advocate Jeannette Rankin was born #OTD in 1880.
Rankin was the first woman to hold federal office in the US--elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (#Montana) in 1916 & again in 1940.
