10 years of Borne - over the last decade, together we’ve: 🩷 Invested £8.5 million into research 🩷 Supported 40+ pioneering projects 🩷 Funded research in 6 countries 🩷 Supported future researchers and clinicians 🩷 Built a global community united by one mission
Why does premature birth happen? We still don’t fully know. Borne-funded research from Imperial College London is exploring how the mother’s immune system may influence pregnancy and preterm birth, helping us move closer to earlier prediction and better outcomes for babies.
Understanding premature birth is only part of the challenge, we also need treatments that can change outcomes today. Borne funds research exploring safe ways to delay labour, reduce complications, and improve outcomes for babies born too soon. #PrematureBirthResearch #Borne
As we approach Father’s Day, we reflect on the often-unspoken emotional toll of premature birth on dads. In the last series of The Borne Podcast, actor and Borne Patron Alistair Petrie shared his own powerful story of becoming a father to premature twins.
How can we prevent preterm birth if we don’t fully understand what triggers labour? At Borne, our Finding Answers research focuses on uncovering the biology of pregnancy, building the foundation for future preventative treatments. Find out more in the 'research' section of our website. #borne
There aren’t enough midwives and too many babies are born too soon. In the UK, ~60,000 premature births happen each year. At Borne, we fund research and support future experts working to improve outcomes. #IDM2026 #OneMillionMoreMidwives
We’re proud to support research exploring how immune cells help the placenta implant in early pregnancy. Understanding this process could help predict and prevent complications that lead to preterm birth. Learn more: https://ow.ly/MfIz50YyQXA #prematurebirthresearch #maternalhealthresearch #borne
