For all its clunkiness, wizards is really important to me. Throughout the film everyone is like "don't worry, avatar will use his magic to make the fascism go away!" And then the movie says nah. Sorry. Fascism has to be killed. It will be brutish and ugly but it must be done.

I know I'm a broken record but seeing Wizards in my twenties after two decades of "No! We can't kill him or we'll be just like him!!!! Nobody dies!" hit like a truck. He just... kills the bad guy. Doesn't even do it with joy or malice. He just does it because it must be done.
