So I tried some of the suggestions to bring the base a little bit closer to the front of my mannequin head. I had to cut out a section of foam at the top to achieve this. Right now, I have a temporary piece of EVA foam there. The base is practically resting on the face of the mannequin head now.

I have a foam-casted base. I'm looking to start on the liner but I'm not sure if I should attach to a foam backing to encapsulate the head or just leave the back open & adhere the cast directly to a liner.
