This is one of the things that's made campaigning for fair trade so much harder, especially wrt fast, cheap fashion. Because you constantly have to caveat your campaign messaging with "We know some people can only afford cheap and fast" when often the answer is buying pre loved which is cheaper

Watching Channel 4 news in Tehran I'm struck by how few women out and about in the streets are wearing hijabs. It's roughly equivalent to the percentage you find in Bolton town centre.

While there's racist rioting in Glasgow it's worth remembering the Commonwealth Games will be held there in about 6 weeks' time. Birmingham 2022 really played to the strengths of its immigrant communities from around the Commonwealth and felt warm and welcoming. Hopefully Glasgow can be the same.
