Honestly middle Australia is ripe for “never talk to me” politics
Once you realise these people think literally everyone else is grifting harder than they are and they’re more worthy of help than everyone they think is grifting, their own grifting makes a lot more sense.
A common political archetype that’s critical to understanding the world today is the guy who gets so incensed at the idea of someone else getting something they don’t deserve that they think everyone’s scamming, so they should scam it too — then gets angry when their unfair benefit gets taken away.
