I watched something similar about books recently. I don't think it applies exactly to games, but it's a good angle too.

And in film criticism, I can find this! It's not strange or controversial for films to receive a very wide range of critical reactions. But not so in games crit. So many critics treat games with kid gloves, either because they're fans through and through or are afraid of being harassed by readers.
