The numbers don't lie. It was under Thatcher and Major that UK defense spending was slashed in half from 5% down to 2½% of GDP. Cameron further reduced it to 2%. Badenoch may be shocked to find that waving a Union Jack is not a feasible defense policy.

I'm all for huge defence spending increases, even if it means borrowing. I also think Starmer is a good PM, but how can Tories, Reform (stuffed full of ex Tories), or even Ed "Coalition" Davey, say more should be spent on defence after their part in decimating the UK military over those 14 years?

Or basically ruined the country.
Very sad to read of David Hockney’s death.

Is he managerial or just unable to stay and fight his corner? A deliberately undermining timing. Shame on him!

I read now that Stephen Ogilvie survived his viscous attack which is good news for his family.

@chazelgrovemp.bsky.social Excellent interview this evening on #BBCNewsnight. You spoke confidently & eloquently in support of #KeirStarmer. It is time for we Labour voters to support him rather than giving up on important jobs like #Healey or challenging him for the leadership.
