There is much poetry in departures.
I have made so many after living in a number of cities across the UK, before I settled down in Liverpool to begin my various careers.
When I think about this I am always struck by a deep melancholy for those past lives l've lived.

The 199 Steps in Whitby lead from the historic Church Street up to the clifftop iconic Whitby Abbey and St Mary's Church dating back to the 14th century. The steps were originally used by coffin bearers and pilgrims making their way to the ancient parish church.
