Normally I keep track of the time on the different topics but when we reached "Share your favorite Video Game Manual" I just let us go on and on because it was so much fun describing why Pokemon and Earthbound and Katamari's user software manuals are such beautiful works of art.
Expedition 33 quietly replacing all its AI generated textures and Larian downplaying how much it wants to cut concept artists all so they don't have to make art like this. Generative AI is like lead exposure for your imagination, c'mon y'all, why are we making excuses for this?
Because of my recent Shoebox Trophies Ollie over at Boston Cube Party approached me for something similar. It needed to be fast to design, simple, and iconic so I came up with a brass statue reminiscent of the Equestrian Statue of George Washington.
"We have used such generative AI support tools during development of Crazy Taxi: World Tour." This is literally placeholder art for Slay the Spire 2. If you need AI to generate ideas you're both lying and also genuinely stupid.
This week on Brain Lords we're getting COMFY! Why do we sometimes turn to dark or depressing games during hard times? Are we really turning our brain *off* or are we turning our heart *on*. Find out now below! youtu.be/ooLmyGYNOhs?...
We're recording this morning with @minovskyarticle.bsky.social and talking video game manuals. Got any memories or questions about them? Send them here! forms.gle/ihJStZJeyF95...
In Japan they call it "Everyone the Hollower".
Meet Adora DiBere, the newest resident at East Virginia, an island resort for Cryptids. Does she really bring disaster and doom or is she taking all the blame for a life long bad luck streak? Find out more about the residents in my project: Mountain Mama Monsters! Art by @milkykau.bsky.social
Informal Poll: If I were to do more cryptid girls for Mountain Mama Monster, who would you like to see? Leaning the most towards Fresno Nightcrawler, Jersey Devil, Bigfoot, and Jackalope.
I've worked on literally over 100 of these Curse Dragon trophies over the years and I have yet to get tired of the way they look.
