Simple fix. Push back the date of the referendum. Elections Alberta will likely need more time to hire 60K workers anyway. Also, this referendum question actually means something.

It is mind blowing that the Minister of Finance has no idea how much this fall's 10 referendums will cost, and that his best guess is "the same amount as a general election."
Just as scary as the government having no prepared analysis for what separation would cost before calling a vote on it.
