Learning to be human ✅. Learning to learn ✅. Our librarians and educators do the most critical work there is.
Surprising given her success, but Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandøy’s collabs haven’t gained traction in the states—nor has Sandøy’s solo work—and I think that’s an absolute shame. They’re great! My little talks about Ginger and James as though they’re real life friends.

Post barely remembered book covers from your childhood.
We love a good #foodways book—it’s our number two category behind… *checks notes* moralizing anthropomorphized animals. On second thought, it’s probably our number one #kidlit category as that last one’s a bit too broad.
Adalyn’s favorite uncle* has Down Syndrome. None of these #kidlit #books are in her age range, but she’ll be so excited when they are! *apologies to her 6 other uncles. He’s just more fun than you, guys.

Couldn‘t say it better myself. There is no prescription for the perfect PB. Every child and every hour is different.
#libraryhaul! Legit haven’t read 14 WAYS OF LOOKING AT JELLYFISH—one of our little’s uncles called dibs on reading it to her—but the #illustrations. THE ILLUSTRATIONS. I described it to said unc as “jellyfish, but if reality were even cooler than it is.” #summerreading #kidlit #kidlitart
THE GATHERING TABLE by Antwan Eady proves a perfect #kidlit introduction to #Juneteenth. It’s poetic both in its images and words—the titular table reifies the holiday, creating a celebration of freedom in every family gathering. Check out our review below! #kidlitart #picturebook #edusky #litcrit

My favorite thing from this year was speaking to my literary lab students about how important their unique brains are. Their thoughts, words and creativity are incredibly valuable. Their humanity matters. I could see in their shining eyes that they really heard me and they know I believe in them.
