👏🚌 Great job Hoboken. Wish Jersey City public comms wasn’t so car-brained about road closures and actually explained bus detours. All the downtown buses were running down Grove St due to the World Cup stuff. Scared of car drivers getting angry at any change, while bus riders are chopped liver.

This is a really, really bad look by both the city and Dobson. The latter should really know better. Filtering exists. Any additional unit of housing keeps rents more affordable for everyone.
Addendum: the original redevelopment plan predates even Fulop and goes back to the Healy administration.

The handful of “$1,000 rents” are codified under UHAC guidelines and are only available to very low income households that make 30% of area median income.

In reality, Mayor Solomon’s development standards are just state guidelines on affordable housing that Jersey City has followed for around five years now.
Those standards make development costs much more expensive, which leads us to questions on how this will be financed.

He has also neglected to mention that this project will likely require a PILOT to pay for the affordable housing and union labor requirements.
