Yesterday in @nature.com, we presented the earliest evidence of dogs anywhere in the world — three puppies that were buried by Stone Age hunter-gatherers in Türkiye almost 16,000 years ago.

Not only have we pushed back the previous record by 5,000 years, but we’ve shown that dogs and wolves were already clearly distinct, both biologically and in their relationships with humans, during the Stone Age.
