The EU's coal ban (Aug 2022) was the first full break from a Russian #energy commodity: imports fell to zero, while alternatives filled the gap.
Still, indirect links remain, some Kazakh coal transits via Russian ports under exemptions, generating handling revenues.

Even amid war, it already supplies part of Europe’s demand, while the EU still relies heavily on imports (mainly from China) 👇
But #REPowerEU must be protected. Civil society must act as a watchdog, and the EU must move without delay on banning Russian oil.
