Mah TOO vah!
In the late 90s I took the old Apple II out of the closet to finally learn assembly language off of this book, which had been sitting around a long time. It’s a good intro, quite gentle and readable, and has neat woodcuts.
I am thinking back to the 90s and 00s where Japan was still getting these gorgeous paintings as box art and we were getting just crappy renders with low poly models and explosions. Like how much of our art woes have to do with a general art illiteracy and weird macho issues?
