English physician Nicholas Culpeper (1616-1654) wrote that eels could be used to treat alcoholism: "Eels being put in wine or beer, and suffered to die in it, he that dranks it will never endure that sort of liquour again" It seems that more recent estrategies (using Disulfiram) could work similarly
