I’m a climate scientist. Let me fix this headline. “Nearly a century ago, scientists showed that burning fossil fuels warms the planet. Today, we know human emissions account for over 100% of the warming. Yet dark money and disinformation still work to keep Americans addicted to fossil fuels.”
New: Climate change literacy has not budged in years. Largely the result of a huge coordinated disinformation campaign. The science is crystal clear: ALL of the warming is due to humans… 1/
It's been an honour - and a challenge - to work on the Ethical Reporting Guidelines project with @pressjustice.bsky.social for the last 6 months, and I'm thrilled to be launching V1 of the guides this week. I'm also excited about what comes next, how they form an ethical foundation to build on.
Access to verified, accurate information is eroding. We can be easily confused and manipulated. We live in silos and struggle to have empathy for each other. It's a recipe for conspiracy. The Conspicists, an amazing documentary is screening tonight in Hackney, and I'm thrilled to host Q&A after.
It blows my mind too @charliejgardner.bsky.social Seems like another case of obsession with the clown 🤡.... and ignorance of the circus 🎪
The abhorrent racism aside, Burnham is right that there is something quite desperate about Reform's recent activity. See also Zia 'white people are the biggest victims of racism' Yusuf's recent posts
Not much to see here, just my attempt to debate existential questions at @thersaorg.bsky.social with @carolecadwalla.bsky.social and @bellingcat.com My uncomfortable efforts to signpost towards a #mediarevolution continue! @media-revolution.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/lizpen/p...
This reminds me of John Todd from Cape Cod. In some of the moments I'm not busy obsessing about the state of media, (and what to do about it) I'm obsessing about the state of our water. And this is a top 'what-to-do-about-it'. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

‘Yoda’ for scientists: the outsider ecologist whose ideas from the 80s just might fix our future
John Todd’s eco-machine stunned experts by using natural organisms to remove toxic waste from a Cape Cod lagoon. Forty years on, he wants to build a fleet of them to clean up the oceans

Looking forward to joining this panel to talk about Google’s AI in search, the impact on independent news and the CMA’s recent landmark decision in a couple of weeks.

Did you know you can turn waste into water with no chemicals or machinery? The sewage from Sheepdrove Organic Farm flows through seven different natural systems until it arrives at a lake where it’s clean enough to swim in or drink. You can stay by the lake and try it for yourself.
It blows my mind that serious commentators still talk about Trump being voted out at the next election What indication has he ever given that he would either hold or honour a fair election?
Scientists have reached a consensus that human behavior is a big driver of climate change—but Americans aren't buying it.
