For insects, this requires field expertise, taxonomy, and preservation workflows. Biodiversity genomics starts with the specimen🐞
πŸ”¬ Many diatoms are hard to sequence because of silica cell walls, low DNA input, repetitive DNA, hybridization, microbial contamination, and genome structures that complicate assembly. One genome is possible. Thousands across diatom diversity is a different challenge. πŸ§¬βš™οΈπŸŒŠ #MicrobialEukaryotes
