Over the last few weeks, multiple tech bros who had previously warned about apocalyptic job losses from AI have completely changed their tune.
My piece for this weekend’s Observer asks why that might be, and which jobs will be safe in the world of AI:

So, ballet looks safe. Software engineering? Less clear. Possibly fine, if AI augments their productivity, demand is highly elastic, and the market expands. Automating a task =/= automating a job. But it doesn’t look like the safe bet it did 6 years ago.
