A really important read from Nina Markl (@ninamarkl.bsky.social), Justine Zhang (@tisjune.bsky.social) and Su Lin Blodgett (who doesn't seem to be on bsky).

Looking forward to reading this. Imho, plenty of the day-to-day stuff of class antagonism is about force multipliers (say, a union is a force multiplier), but surely differential access to financing is an essential one (it's called *leverage* for a reason - levers are literal force multipliers)

Just finished reading and this is all so very important and spot on. There's value in countering specific claims - such as in my case AI's ability to actually create software not just generate code - but discourse whack-a-mole just flings rocks at the walls while the castle remains standing.

One of the things I research is the cooperation of cultural institutions like museums in pitching tech products--specifically AI--to the public. This is advertising for the capacity of AI to educate and thus to reshape education itself as a project better left to private tech companies. 1/n
