These aggregated data products will support the development of decision-support tools.
🗺️ We already have tracking data contributions from over 50 PIs, covering 70+ species, which are informing the development of multi-species aggregate maps.
Operational BioTrack Project is a NOAA-funded project of the U.S. Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (MBON) which aims to integrate marine acoustic and satellite tracking data to identify multi-species/multi-taxa shared space-use hotspots in waters of the US Atlantic.

Speakers: Hugo Flávio, Ph.D. Lennox Lab Dalhousie University, and Inês Silva, Ph.D., Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS), Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.
In this webinar, we introduce the movedesign R package and Shiny app, a simulation-driven framework to evaluate sampling strategies, quantify uncertainty, and support stronger study design decisions for projects and grant proposals.
We highlight the Trackyverse, a community-led initiative working to standardize tracking data formats, improve reproducibility, and foster the development of reliable, interoperable R tools, helping researchers turn rapidly growing tracking datasets into actionable science and management outcomes.
You’re invited!
Webinar: R packages, data and code integration in animal movement ecology
🗓️ 29 April 2026
🕣 18:00 CEST

Effective movement ecology studies rely on smart sampling decisions, yet real-world constraints often force trade-offs that can weaken inference.
We have an open invitation for collaborators and coauthors, with two main ways to participate:
1️⃣ Sharing of historical and/or ongoing tracking data under our data-sharing agreement.
2️⃣ Deployment of new tags provided by the project on priority species*.
