No disrespect to Dan, but I stopped at "the forever wars his country sent him to fight."
When you join up to get in the action, you haven't been "sent." I have always hated the phrasing that tries to make all post-1991 deployments like Vietnam, with boys being drafted and sent to some faraway war.
