Letting the xiv sub go for now. Soon as a time matches up to do something with friends/FC I'll immediately throw more money at it and get in but it's gonna be a very outdoorsy and studious couple months
Guess you get the writing you pay for. Subscription MMOs: WoW's story is schlock but at least it's memorable. XIV's is a masterpiece (aided somewhat by the sunk cost fallacy and/or stockholm syndrome)

For a brain-off game, poked at non-subscription MMO stories to see if there's a solo story experience there. Read GW2's story summary up to where I left off (base game final boss), absolutely none of it was familiar. ESO: Same problem. Neither story was memorable. Best case, need to start over
