Really cool (and somewhat freighting) work on Gen AI use and highschool performance in China. Homework Scores rocket up, time spend doing homework collapses, then predictably exam scores are way down. Results show bimodal response ~75% see scores drop, the other 20-25% keep doing the work.
There are so many tech companies now named after Lord of the Rings (Palantir, Anduril, Earendil…)
Very concerned that in 20 years tech will be disrupted by Hufflepuff Industries
Thermo Fisher now has a page up in response to our observations. They flatly deny that images were manipulated or fabricated while repeating that images were "optimized for presentation and clarity on the website", no lie, six times.

What is the largest source of electricity in each country?
Coal generates one-third of the world’s electricity, more than any other source.

Finally out in @Cellcellpress!
Proteins with long IDRs are prone to misfolding during protein synthesis.
This is prevented by mRNA 3′UTRs that act as mRNA-based IDR chaperones.

We found that Aβ fibrils at plaque edges form a complex with the U1 snRNP. U1-70k is the most-correlated insoluble protein with Aβ in AD. Previously thought to be intracellular in tangles, but we find it’s directly bound to Aβ. With @raflynn5.bsky.social. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

NIH's Stadtman Investigator Program is back in 2026! As a Stadtman tenure-tracker myself, I cannot emphasize how important this program has been to the establishment of our lab in the intramural world. Take a look, ask me any questions you may have, and apply!
