“Incel adjacent” - thank you. This guy could hook up but has convinced himself to want something more idealized that he can’t have. This is nothing new and it’s very well observed here.
This is such an odd and by now totally antiquated notion.
That book has the appalling “sweet tang of rape” stuff. A recurring theme in other titles - Dr No, Goldfinger, DAF - is female characters recounting the pain and trauma of sexual violence. It’s a striking, unique component. Yes, Bond “cures”, them, but that focus is startling when you read these now
