I had to pop out to Kensington today (blood tests, what fun), so I used the excuse to visit 38 Kensington - which it turns out is about 5 minutes from my office - the home of Percy Phillips' recording studio. I did, of course listen to the Quarrymen/Beatles recordings whilst taking the pics.

(I'm assuming they were using an earlier recording of Wardle, who was Liverpool based, to play as an example what with him and Ted Ray being an early stage pairing, rather than this being a bespoke Percy Phillips recording for the occassion)

Also interesting to find this 1955 advert for this tiny terraced-house recording studio having been used for making a recording featured on television!
