David Shukman (former BBC now @granthamlse.bsky.social) does a great job in his new book (The Response @penguinrandomhouse.bsky.social) of both making you very alarmed about the future, but also somehow less helpless. Our latest #LSEFutureProof video with him explores the risks of urban flooding.

www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminst... Mangrove livelihoods in Palawan, Philippines: individual & joint household preferences with exemption interviews
Delighted to be giving keynote at 32nd Ulvön Environmental Economics Conference, Umea. Midsommar in northern Sweden! Long train journey to get there means lots of writing time. First leg London-Brussels. If German trains are behaving, I'll be in Copenhagen late evening. #TrainsNotPlanes if you can.
Part of my @countdowneurope.bsky.social contribution w/ @shourodasgupta.bsky.social. Tracking temperature & labour supply over time in high exposure sectors (e.g. ag, construction). Higher temperatures associated with lower labour supply in Southern Europe. Yet more #climatechange implications.
Congrats to @aliceleibian.bsky.social, @nikoh8.bsky.social, Maxine Gibb, our Philippines colleagues Cristobal Caeyetano, and Lota Creencia. @granthamlse.bsky.social policy report out today. Funding to protecting mangroves and the livelihoods of those dependent on mangroves.

Access to sufficient nutritious food is already made harder by climate change, & will get worse in the future. Agrifood systems account for approx 1/3 GHG emissions, so we need a rapid transition to low carbon diets plus greater efforts to adapt & build resilience. @countdowneurope.bsky.social

Care about #climatechange? You should probably care about this: Nils Pratley: "BP has fresh faces in the boardroom and a rigged strategy: it’s pivoting back to oil and gas and away from its low-carbon assets in an attempt to improve a weak share price."

Thanks to group members, Ariana Jessa (CCC), Samira Barzin, @angelaisfranc.bsky.social, @laurielaybourn.bsky.social , Theresa Lober, Carlos Eduardo Young, James Rising, Vera Trappmann, Olivia Shears (CCC) We highlight how economic methods can be used to make the case for action on systemic risk
So many positives about #TrainsNotPlanes - time to power through the to do list, write uninterrupted, and post. New @granthamlse.bsky.social working paper, led by Niko Howai, with @aliceleibian.bsky.social, Arnica De Guzman-Mortillero, & me. www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminst... Mangrove livelihoods, DCE
