Have no plans to see Moana 2026 in theaters, but this is a rare moment where Schaff might have gone a bit overboard.
His snark in most videos/LB reviews I just see as him playing up a character, and I see why Moana’s remake would frustrate him most given his association with the OG, but still.
I think it would have been more fair if he said something like “If you see Moana 2026 in theaters but don’t make an effort to check out original stuff, you don’t get to complain about Hollywood prioritizing franchises over originals.” That would come off as less mean and more like helpful advice.
I don’t think Schaffrillas is an overall bad or unpleasant reviewer (cough Diaz Station cough) as I enjoy much of his videos and I appreciated when he shared videos from those with positive takes on things he dislikes like Bolt and Disney’s Dinosaur. He just needs to phrase some things better.

I may not exactly be looking forward to the Moana remake...
...but that take... ...wow. That was just very poor.
An animated film from Hong Kong about a soulkeepr who guides people in the afterlife to be reincarnated was given a very limited release here in the US. I got to see it and I have things to say on why you should see it. Here's my review of Another World.
Pixar just dropped the first teaser for the next film Gatto and I really cannot get enough of how gorgeous this animation is. I love seeing the 2D influence here and it is also giving me similar vibes to Ratatouille. I can't wait to see it and what Enrico Cassarosa does!

I think in the case of mainline Mario, people were just taken off by the hiatus we been having since Odyssey and Wonder.
But that's actually not that uncommon if one takes a look at mainline games during the SNES, N64 and GameCube. It's just the Wii/DS and Wii U/3DS that spammed Mario a bit too much
