Learned something new today! The 555th Parachute Battalion was the first black paratroopers in the US Army. They never made it overseas.
Instead they were deployed from Georgia to Pendleton Oregon and Chico California.
There they served in a secret mission called Operation Firefly.
I fully support a modern day coastal artillery branch.
