Truth be told, the echidna wasn't expecting to be invited on a vacation. The offer took him by surprise, but boy, he needs some time off.

"I've heard Emerald Coast is lovely at this time of year."
He suggested.
"I see..."
Knuckles replied, leaving it at that, not wanting to probe any further.
"At least you're getting a break from it now, right?"
"Long time no see, Sal."
Smirking in her direction.
"Eh, you don't need to worry about disappearing. Maybe you needed to take a break..."
"I'm fine, just doing my usual stuff, you know?"
"The island has a unique power source that I guard. The Master Emerald. If that shatters or gets stolen, the island falls."
Knuckles looked into her eyes, noticing this.
"You're certainly curious. What's your name?"
"I would say I'd be willing to help you out, but I guess the last thing you need is me adding another complication to your situation."
The echidna shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
"Ugh, I knew this stuff wouldn't taste good..."
"I'm Knuckles. Nice to meet ya."
The echidna reached out a hand for a handshake. He'll try to be gentle with it.

🦇 Her pink eyes were practically sparkling with wonder. The quiet landscape of the island and the fact that it was floating had captured her attention.
"Hello! What a beautiful place this is, truly I've never seen something quite like it. How does it remain suspended so far from the ground?"

"well--- you could say that. i mean. probably. yeah," sally lied, feeling horrible for doing so but not wanting to trouble or inconvenience knuckles more than she probably already has.
"hey there, knuckles. long time no see! i disappeared a little bit there, but. . . . never mind that. how have you been?"
"i don't need assistance from outside entities. i have everything under control-- for the most part," she hastily replied, not wanting to drag anybody into the conflict since it was dangerous.

"you're right. . . . . i /really/ needed to take a break. the eggman from my universe has been non-stop with his attacks. . . . meaning i needed to take out a base. . . but more keep popping up. it's almost endless," she muttered, gaze downcast and mouth drawn in a frown.
"yeah! i think so too. emerald coast would be a /very/ beautiful spot for a vacation. i think i should try it out. thank you for the suggestion, knuckles. . . would you like to go with me," the former royal offered.
