You have to go out of your way to make sci-fi the *solution* to the problem. New technology is scary. And to be fair we see it go wrong a lot in our actual lives (looking at you tech bros) But science and technology also help us. We have Wikipedia, and cancer treatments.

Project Hail Mary is important because we don't have enough hopeful sci-fi it's so hard to do because plot *requires* bad things to happen and the default is for the sci-fi thing to be what goes wrong. Aliens kill everyone, robots take over, the miracle cure has consequences, etc
